Efforts are underway to listen and protect the rights of all pastoralists, promote sustainable pastoralism and find solutions to the risks they face. A joint collaboration and involvement from multiple stakeholders including the government agencies, non-governmental organizations and local communities need to have dialogues on their concerns. This includes:

  • Policy influence.

Our organization network give a platforms for a collective responsibility, allowing pastoralists to have one voice and to negotiate with policymakers on their interests and concerns. We will engage the pastoralist to participate in policy-making processes, including consultative forum to ensure that their opinions is heard and given priority. On behalf of pastoralists, our network will try its best to influence policies, laws and regulations that govern pastoralists groups.

  • Awareness creation

Our organization network will air risks/hazards facing pastoralists through media platforms, social media and public gatherings across pastoralist communities. We aim to empower communities, policymakers and media about the importance of pastoralists communities, their livelihoods and the need to fight for their space.

  • Representation.

Using our networking advocacy platforms, we shall ensure that pastoralists have proper representation in decision making forums, governance and leadership at any level of governments (local, national & international)

  • Collaboration and networking

Collaboration and networking: facilitate formidable alliances and networks with other organizations both within the pastoralists communities and with other stakeholders. These partnerships help amplify the voices of pastoralists and strengthen their advocacy efforts.

  • Early warning systems and anticipatory action:

Our organization will develop and communicate predictions to enhance disaster preparedness and responses that can alert pastoralists about potential hazards/risks ahead such as drought, disease outbreaks, or extreme weather events. With these predictions, they will get informed, prepare and take proactive action to minimize losses.

  • Lobby for livestock off-take programs and insurance cover:

Our organization will encourage pastoralists to invest in insurance or lobby for off-take programs early enough to reduce risks. With these they can be assisted to recover financially in the event of livestock losses due to natural calamities such as drought, disease outbreaks or floods.

  • Rangeland management

Rangeland management issues will be our priority to ensure sustainability and utilization of rangeland resources. We will empower communities on interventions such as reseeding, rotational grazing, rest periods for grazing areas, monitor and controlled grazing.

  • Vaccination and veterinary services:

We will lobby for disease surveillance, regular vaccination and adequate veterinary services from the government agencies and other partners. Our organization will strengthen collaboration with local veterinary organizations or government agencies to provide these services closer to the pastoral communities.
